Most of us are aware that throughout history, mankind has maintained an intimate relationship with stone. Even today we still make homes out of it, and over millennia we've slept on it, sat on it, used it as tools for hunting and cooking and lit our fires with it. Stone has been so influential that it inspired our prehistoric artists to paint on it, carve out the worlds grandest places of worship and mausoleums, lovingly sculpting from within the stone some of most enduring and stunningly beautiful artworks. We wear stone on our bodies and we aspire to the qualities of a flawless diamond, a gem that so brilliantly reflects the whole spectrum of light, delicate, yet strong enough to cut hardened steel or granite. We know stone and we love it. However, most of us do not know of the numerous smooth stones gathered from archaeological sites around the globe, stones found to contain fine particles of human skin advancing theories that these smooth stones were used for treating muscle soreness and injuries by our prehistoric ancestors. These theories are supported by actual tools held in museums in China today. We came to realise that to „not use stone‟ in topical skin care treatment, So then we thought we had to learn more, if you keep reading, you can too. The Integumentary System (the skin) is a created from complex layers of tissue that perform a very wide variety of tasks. Blood vessels nerves, hair follicles, oil cells, fat cells and pain sensors, the skin is a living breathing feeling heating cooling bodysuit that protects and supports us by telling us things all day, like how hot or cold we are what chemicals and plants are dangerous and things that are good for us as well. Without all these layers working happily together we simply cannot survive. The largest organ of the body the skin is composed of two layers, the epidermis and the dermis. The outer layer the epidermis is the quite thin and made of cells called keratino-cytes. It has no blood vessels and is totally reliant on the dermis for nourishment. The underlying dermis consists of two layers, containing blood vessels, elastic fibres, colla-gen and Fibroblasts, (they are the major cell type that produces the elastin and collagen). The dermis also contains a ground substance, a very important liquid sometimes called the (Intracellular matrix). This liquid that contains mainly hyaluronic acid, chondroitin sulfate and glycoproteins. If you want to know more about scars, you need to know more about this liquid.
